The last Brussels Development Briefing on ‘Realising the Promise of Agriculture for Africa’s Transformation’, took place on the morning of Friday 4 April 2014, at the Egmont Palace in Brussels. This 36th Briefing was timed to coincide with the 4th Africa-EU Summit, and the panel was organised by the ACP-EU Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), in collaboration with the European Commission and the AU Commission.
The panel, which was composed of a stellar cast of speakers representing governments, farmers’ organisations, the private sector, development partners and academia, discussed the opportunities for investment in African agriculture and the importance of building partnerships which will increase productivity and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. They were joined by over 200 participants who contributed to the debate by asking questions, making presentations and tweeting about the Briefing.
